Group Finance Manager (Specialist Accounting)

Using your first class leadership, change management and specialist accountancy skills you will help shape financial services within our organisation.

The role
Hertfordshire County Council is a large scale, highly respected and complex business. With a gross revenue budget of over £1 billion a year, it represents more than a million people and delivers a range of vital services to the community through its 30,000 staff.

This high profile role will be an ideal opportunity to take the next step in your career. You will head up a group of finance professionals, delivering specialist services including treasury management and pension fund administration. You will also have a key role in managing the client relationship for finance managed services.

The role will be varied -engaging with Council members and senior officers about investment management, strategies and polices and working with partners to deliver key finance services. You will also receive support and development in your own progression within Hertfordshire County Council.

This is an exciting time to join Hertfordshire – supporting our Shared Managed Service programme you will have an opportunity to shape and influence the new ways of working. This is an opportunity to develop and hone your leadership and change management skills.

Key requirements

You should have:
• A recognised CCAB qualification (preferably CIPFA)
• A comprehensive knowledge and experience of accounting practices, policies and standards and how they apply to local government
• A n understanding of the principles of Treasury Management, banking, insurance and investment
• Experience of managing performance, staff management and project management
• The ability to identify opportunities for service improvement
• Good leadership and motivational skills.
