We are looking for an enthusiastic GIS Officer to work with an established, active group of users of the ESRI product range, from the Planning, Environment, Amenities, Property Services and Housing Divisions of the authority.
The role is based within the ICT Division of the Council and you will be required to take the lead in the promotion of the use of GIS across all services in order to provide increased benefits to members, officers and citizens. The development and maintenance of the GIS Corporate Database and the Intranet Map Server will be your responsibility, in addition to overseeing the work of an assistant, whose role covers the maintenance of the Local Land & Property Gazetteer and the creation of properties on all databases used by the Council.
To succeed in this role you must have:
• The ability to work on your own initiative
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Education to at least diploma level in GIS.
• Experience of using the ESRI product range (ArcIMS / ArcSDE / ArcMap)
• Knowledge of Access database techniques.
• The ability to analyse data, including the extraction and presentation of meaningful information.
