Thurrock is looking for a GIS/Information Management Assistant to join the Information Management Team to support the continued maintenance and development of the corporate GIS and the Information Management work programme. The role is split between GIS and Information Management.
For GIS the role assists in the support and development of PC based and intranet/internet GIS Applications; data capture and maintenance; production of maps and statistical information; GIS training; and the maintenance of corporate GIS standards. We are looking for a candidate with experience of using GIS technology and preferably with a relevant qualification or degree.
For Information Management the role assists in the monitoring of information compliance; implementing information governance projects; assisting with the processing of requests under the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and working to relevant systems and procedures. We are looking for someone with great written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Experience and awareness of Information Management legislation would be an advantage – although not essential as training will be given.
