Oldham Lifelong Learning Service is a thriving and successful provider of adult education with over 8,000 learners on courses per year.
We are seeking dynamic and hard working family learning tutors in this very successful curriculum area. We will recruit Family Learning specialist to expand the delivery of courses in family literacy, language and numeracy along with wider family learning in schools and children’s centres across the borough. You will be responsible to the Curriculum Manager for the delivery of aspects of the family learning curriculum; you will be contracted to teach an agreed minimum hours per week. There are 6 posts; these are 0.5 pro rata term-time only fixed-term positions until September 2010 in the first instance with a possible renewal subject to continued Family Learning Impact Funding.
The successful candidates will hold a relevant teaching qualification e.g. Certificate of Education, PGCE, B.Ed and relevant subject specialism e.g. level 4/5 qualification, preferably Skills for Life or commitment to achieving these within the timescale. Experience of delivering family learning is desirable.
For all the posts you will be working across our centres, schools and community venues to deliver to learners, often those who may have experienced barriers to learning and are in need of extra support to assist them to achieve their learning goals. Flexible working hours will be required as our centres are open in the evenings. You will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, able to motivate people and organise work on your own initiative.
For the EYFS posts you will need an Early Years qualification or working knowledge and experience as an Early Years Practitioner in addition to a current teacher training qualification eg Cert Ed or PGCE/PGDE.
These posts require an enhanced CRB disclosure.
The council is conducting a job evaluation exercise which may affect the grade and salary of this post.
Salary: £20,279 – £25,725 p.a. (pro rata)
Hours: 18.20 per week
