Tackling Youth Violence in Islington
An exciting opportunity has arisen for creative, energetic and experienced outreach workers to deliver the Family Intervention Project. Funded through the Youth Crime Action Plan, the Islington FIP will focus on families in which young people are at the highest risk of involvement in youth violence. Working with a small caseload, you will provide intensive intervention packages to families with complex needs within their own homes using an assertive outreach approach.
Tackling youth violence is a key priority in Islington. The Islington FIP will provide the opportunity to engage with these challenging families using a whole family approach to provide emotional and practical support to reduce the risk factors linked with future offending by young people.
The full family assessment tool will be used by the project to build on the CAF, the Team Around the Child, the Team Around the School, and the Team Around the Family. Each family member’s needs and strengths will be identified and from this a multi-agency plan made which will include the use of rewards and sanctions.
Able to work flexibly and creatively, you will have proven experience of delivering multi-agency intensive intervention packages to families with complex needs. You will also be able to meet the demands of evening, weekend and lone working within families’ homes. Qualification in social care, education or youth and community work equivalent to at least level 3 is required.
Closing date: Friday 17 July 2009
Interview date: Monday 10 August 2009
