KCC Children and Family services is looking for an experienced manager to lead, support and improve our work with diverse communities. You will have considerable experience of work with diverse communities and be able to influence others to ensure that the Children Families and Education (CFE) department at KCC is responding to all sections of Kent’s communities.

In this role you would be part of the Strategic Planning and Review team. The team plays a key role in coordinating strategy development and performance monitoring for the Council’s CFE department and the Kent Children’s Trust. The team produces the Children & Young People’s Plan for the area, the ECM Needs Assessment and the Kent Children’s Trust Workforce Strategy.

This post will play a major role in ensuring that all plans and strategies produced by the department reflect the needs and aspirations of diverse communities. You will also provide more direct support and advice to Kent Children’s Trust and individual managers on how to engage or respond to the needs of specific groups or more effectively meet the needs of diverse communities.

You will have considerable knowledge and experience of:
• Assessing the needs of diverse and minority communities
• Engaging diverse communities
• Developing effective plans and policies to respond to inequality, tackle discrimination or meet specific needs
• Legislation relevant to diverse communities and promoting community cohesion
• Translating strategies and plans into practical action
• Creating and delivering innovative solutions to conflicts and tensions that may arise from a diverse community
