Location This position is located in the Letchworth Garden City in North Hertfordshire. North Hertfordshire is located less than 40 miles from central London, is a predominantly rural district and contains interesting market towns and several picturesque villages. The District is an attractive area in which to live and work.

We take the protection of the environment seriously and aim to have a real impact on the quality of life of our residents. This post is in our Environmental Protection Team which has a diverse workload including the regulation of contaminated land, air quality, noise control, drinking water supplies and the evaluation of the environmental impacts arising from planning and licensing applications. Your specific duties will include investigation and resolution of a variety of complaints received by the Environmental Protection Team plus supporting our noise and air quality monitoring programmes. It’s a busy but very friendly and supportive environment that will provide an enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated team player with the opportunity to further their career, with the possibility of support to become an Environmental Health Officer. You must have the Institute of Acoustics Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement or be committed to achieving this qualification within six months of appointment to the post. You will have relevant knowledge and experience, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm for and commitment to making a difference in North Herts.
