Do you have enthusiasm for and a commitment to improving living conditions in the private rented sector? We are looking for a capable officer who can work effectively as a member of a team. Ideally you will be qualified as an Environmental Health Officer or have suitable qualifications and experience in housing standards enforcement.
You will be confident and self motivated with an understanding of defects in older housing and building construction methods. You will have an excellent understanding of and preferably experience of enforcing standards using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. Your core function will be to enforce housing standards, but opportunities will exist to engage proactively with landlords in our efforts to promote responsible renting.
Although the post is initially for a two year period we will be looking to make the post permanent.
A secondment to the post may be possible by agreement.
