Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Disability and Inclusion Sports Development Officer to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent experience, together with knowledge of sports development and disability sport structures and pathways. We have a vacancy for a Disability and Inclusion Sports Development Officer.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • To work with partners to increase participation in physical activity and sport by people with disabilities and under participating sections of the community in Oxfordshire
  • Influence, support, assist, co-ordinate, develop, and where necessary lobby existing and potential partners within the community sports system in Oxfordshire to be fully inclusive.
  • Design, develop and implement a framework of specific inclusion strategies, programmes and resources aimed at widening access to disadvantaged groups and leading to increasing participation and improving performance in physical activity and sport.

Essential/Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working within sports development or the leisure industry
  • Experience of planning and delivering sports development programmes.
  • Relevant degree or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and ongoing continuing professional development.
  • Experience of working with disabled people
  • A good understanding of the current legislative issues for people with disabilities
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of disability structures and pathways
  • The ability to motivate, enthuse, persuade, negotiate and influence in the spoken and written word
  • Good organisation skills and a methodical approach to work
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload and prioritise in accordance with set timescales
