We are seeking to appoint to the above post which has become vacant due to the retirement of the current Director of Music. The Oldham Music Service is a high quality, thriving Service, bought back by over 80% of local authority schools. The Service promotes excellence in a wide range of musical genres and groups have appeared at NFMY; School’s Proms; radio and television broadcasts and have undertaken concerts/tours in the UK, Europe and America.

Concerts, a Music and Health Programme and weekend workshops are regular features of the Service along with inset for both peripatetic teachers and school teachers.

Reporting to the Head of Integrated Youth, the successful candidate will be responsible for the economic, efficient and effective operation of the Oldham Music Service and Music Centre and will be expected to contribute to the quality of music education within the LA and the community and to promote the vision of Oldham Council.

Applicants for the post should have experience of both teaching and management; high standards of personal musicianship; the ability to lead and motivate a team of teachers and generate standards of excellence; vision, creativity and innovative ideas to develop the Service further.

This post will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Salary: £50,237 – £53,554 + 3 SPA’s p.a.
Hours: 36.40 per week
