Tackling Crime.
A clear and simple commitment we have made to the people of Barnet. As part of this commitment, we are seeking a keen and enthusiastic individual to join our Community Protection Group.
You will be responsible for monitoring CCTV equipment covering a growing number of locations across the Borough. This will involve controlling cameras, operating recording equipment and acting swiftly in response to any identified incidents. In addition, the Control Room operates an out-of-hours telephone service providing our residents with emergency access to a number of council services.
Able to operate CCTV equipment, you will have an awareness of associated procedures and practices.
You will need excellent communication skills and be able to work unsupervised using your own initiative.
You will be able to deal sensitively and professionally with calls from the public requesting emergency assistance. Previous experience will be an advantage, although training will be provided.
The CCTV control room operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and applicants must be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
A Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check will be required for successful candidates.

Prior to commencement of employment, we will require original evidence of your National Insurance number, and your right to work in the UK and where appropriate will undertake checks with the Criminal Records Bureau. We are committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination and developing community cohesion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
