Communication & Consultation Officer
Permanent, Full time
Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, and first class transport connections, which combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector, are fast making it one of London's most popular areas to live, work and visit. The challenge for Hackney is to make sure that the borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.
A lack of affordable homes and rights for private renters are key concerns for Hackney’s residents, and addressing these issues are at the heart of the Mayor’s manifesto and the Council’s work. The Regeneration team are responding to the challenge – with one of the country’s biggest programmes of local authority-led housebuilding across the borough that will deliver around 9,000 new badly-needed homes for social rent, shared ownership and outright sale.
We know that staff are key to our success and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our values to help us achieve the best for the people of Hackney.
As Communications and Consultation Officer, you will take an active role in engaging with tenants and leaseholders across estates undergoing regeneration, working closely with the Regeneration team’s directly leading delivery. You will support the Housing Regeneration Communications Manager in the delivery of communications and engagement to key stakeholders at dozens of regeneration projects across Hackney, and take a lead role in drafting copy for newsletters; which contain updates on each estate, opportunities for residents to get involved, and carry key council messages directly into the homes and inboxes of Council tenants and leaseholders. You will also support the Consultation Manager in the delivery of the delivery of the consultation forward plan, through involvement in corporate consultation projects as required.
You will have communications, Consultation, engagement and data analysis skills, combined with knowledge of relationship and stakeholder management. You will also have good project management skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels and build good working relationships.
Experience gained within a public sector or housing environment would be beneficial.
