This is an exciting time to be joining Salford Children’s Services Commissioning Team. The team is recognised for its high standards, good relationships with partners, significant contribution to cost savings and ability to deliver. Several new posts are being created to ensure continuity of the teams success and to develop specialism in particular areas. At the same time plans are underway to develop a “Commissioning Hub” for the city council and Public Health which will oversee the majority of commissioning functions in the future. Whilst both posts currently being advertised cover specialist areas there will be a generic element to the posts to ensure there is flexibility within the team to meet varying demand and to ensure post holders can contribute their expertise and Knowledge to cross cutting task groups and strategy development. Placement Manager (LAC) – this new post is tasked with developing a small placement finding team to ensure an effective system is in place and a range of placements are available for Looked After Children and Young People. It will involve close working with the Looked After Children Team including Social Workers, Family Placement and Residential Service. The successful post holder will be responsible for leading on the Placement Strategy, developing the market through discussion with providers, supporting the placement North West framework and managing a range of related Commissioned Service contracts, including the Children’s Rights Service. It is expected cost negotiation with providers will be a priority for the post holder with significant savings being made.
