Kingston’s Early Years and Childcare Service offers advice and guidance to local childcare and early education providers to ensure long term viability, to help them to meet the Department for Children, Schools and Families welfare requirements and raise quality in their settings. A major element of this work is to help childcare providers gain essential skills in business and financial management and planning.

Your role will be to identify training and development needs and respond with a tailored package of coaching, training or facilitation techniques to support providers and build resilience and sustainability. You will also play a pivotal role in monitoring and managing the childcare market to ensure there are sufficient childcare and early education places for Kingston families.

You must have a wide range of experience in the development / delivery of childcare, play work and /or early education and a thorough knowledge of childcare, childminding and play-work, including legislation and relating issues.

You will need the ability to speak confidently, conveying clear messages to a wide range of listeners and to act innovatively and creatively in a given situation. You will need enthusiasm, flexibility and to be self motivated, self reliant and proactive.

You must have had hands-on experience of business planning, financial management, cash flow and marketing planning. Ideally you will also understand the voluntary sector and be familiar with the kind of difficulties small businesses can encounter. Knowledge of the Childcare and Working Tax Credit system would be an advantage. You must hold English and Maths GCSE or equivalent and an adult teaching qualification would be desirable.
