As co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the management of the councils Pedestrian Training Programme, working mainly with schools in Pendleton, Langworthy, Weaste and Seedley. You will be responsible for planning and implementing the scheme and assist in its evaluation. Your main duties will be the recruitment and training of volunteers to teach young children practical crossing skills. You must be a good communicator, able to work in the community with children, parents, teachers and Headteachers, road safety organisations and the press. You must be self reliant and well organised, energetic and enthusiastic.You will need to motivate and work closely with parents and experience in Managing / training volunteers is therefore highly desirable. An understanding of primary schools, and experience of working with school staff and younger children will also be a distinct advantage. Some flexibility to work outside normal working hours will be required. There is also a requirement to assist with a practical cycle training courses to national standards.You will be responsible to the Team Leader Road Safety within the Road Casualty Reduction Group.Interviews will be held in the week beginning 27th July 2009.
