Fixed Term Contract to 31st August 2012
Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery require a responsible, outgoing individual to join our team of Casual Visitor Services Assistants, to cover holiday and sickness absence. The main duties are to maintain the security of display areas of Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery, to handle objects and enquiries from the public, to display and distribute posters and leaflets, to deal with the sale of publications, souvenirs, photographs and works of art, and to maintain records as required.
The successful applicant will have experience of dealing with the public in person and on the telephone in a polite and co-operative manner, as well as having experience of handling cash and using a till. The ability to carry out occasional lifting and confidence to carry out security duties is also essential. Some knowledge of the local area would also be helpful but not essential.
Please note, the successful applicant for the above post will be background checked with the Criminal Records Bureau.
