We are looking for a number of casual driver/library assistants to provide cover for sickness and holidays on our mobile libraries, and on our Mobile Information Centre.Applicants should have basic literacy and numeracy, good driving skills and a licence that qualifies them to drive vehicles of 7500 kilograms (C1), and the energy and enthusiasm to provide a high quality service to customers who are not able to access their local library. Clients include those in elderly persons’ homes and day centres, and people in sheltered accommodation and in their own homes. Mobile Library Services are based at Broughton Library, and applicants should be able to collect vehicles from there, and from one other location in Salford. They will need to be available for work at short notice between 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday, and be able to be contacted by telephone. Payment will be made on an hours-worked basis, and no minimum number of hours can be guaranteed.
