Job/Service overview

Careline Telecare is Camden’s community alarm service, offering a lifeline to vulnerable adults in this thriving and varied London Borough. Part of our Promoting Independence Group, it aims to offer appropriate alarm equipment and telecare sensors to help customers keep on living independently in their own homes. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing emergency response when needed.

Key responsibilities

You will install and demonstrate community alarm equipment, working with officers from Housing & Adult Social Care and the local Primary Care Trust to assess, advise on and fit telecare triggers in customers’ homes. Once the triggers are installed, you will review them regularly to make sure that they are correctly used, meet changing needs and continue to maximise user independence. Where appropriate, you will signpost customers to other services.

Key requirements

  • Good, demonstrable knowledge of telecare triggers with good practical skills covering electrical systems, computer hardware and software, telecoms and assistive technology
  • Clean, current UK driving licence; interviewed candidates will be asked to produce this
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Competent use of a range of relevant IT
  • Ability to install, demonstrate and explain telecare triggers and to maintain detailed electronic records
  • Ability to participate in the review process, working with other professionals to meet users’ needs and enhance their quality of life
  • Creative problem solving when faced with complex installations
  • Ability to help Careline officers respond to customer calls, working with the call handling service
  • Experience of working with elderly and/or disabled people
  • Experience of teamwork and sound decision making processes
  • Knowledge of first aid and welfare rights relating to elders and disable people would be useful.
