12 month-24 months temporary contract (funding dependant)

We are looking for a flexible individual with initiative, intelligence and a high level of self-discipline to provide administrative support for the Barnet Care & Repair Team and the Handy Person Scheme. The post is split 50/50 between these two roles.

Working in partnership with Age Concern Barnet, you will be responsible for supporting a fast track responsive repair service which assists vulnerable older and disabled people to remain safely in their homes. One of your key responsibilities will be putting together an approved small contractors list.

In your Care & Repair role, you will support a team of officers to assist vulnerable older and disabled people to complete disabled adaptations to their homes. You will also be responsible for administering schemes including the Safer Homes Scheme 3 providing security improvements.

This will be a very ‘hands on’ job but will also require word processing ability, budget control and ability to negotiate effectively.

Educated to a high standard, with confidence in your abilities and excellent communication skills, you will have experience of working in several of the following areas: Home Improvement Agency e.g. security scheme or hospital discharge scheme , Older People’s Services, Primary Care, Social Care for people with disabilities and Public or Private Sector Housing.

You will need special ability in negotiating with, instructing and supervising contractors.
You must have your own transport and possess a full, current and clean driving licence. A CRB check will be required.
