Café Support Worker

HOUSING AND ADULT SOCIAL SERVICES

Community Services: Daylight

Grade/ Salary: Scale 5/£22,920-£24,819 p.a.
Hours: 30 Hours p/w

Daylight is a service for adults with Learning Disabilities with a variety of needs and abilities, offering day opportunities both on site and in the community, throughout the week. The people who use our service are very diverse, as is the community we serve. Some service users have additional support needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments and Autism. Some people may present behaviours that can challenge the service.

The service is currently open from Monday to Friday; working hours are 8am until 5pm but may vary in the future.
Café 14 is the café and kitchen that prepares on site lunches and packed lunches for service users and staff for up to 80 people a day. The support staff in the kitchen work side by side with adults with learning disabilities, supporting the service users to develop work based skills. They are currently working with service users to qualify in ASDAN modules and also supporting people to develop person-centred plans.

Café 14 staff are therefore not only able to work in a pressured kitchen environment but also support adults with learning disabilities to develop new, vocational skills. Café 14 also runs a highly successful sandwich delivery project where staff support service users to produce and sell sandwiches in local council office blocks as well as contracts for catering to large meetings and conferences.
