Applications are invited for the above post which is based in the Benefits Section at Lodge Road. The duties of the job are varied, however, the main purpose of the role is to support and assist the Processing Team and it’s customers in the daily administration of Housing and Council Tax Benefit. The job involves a high level of contact with the public, in person at the Benefits Enquiry point in the One Stop Shop, by post and on the telephone. As the role entails explaining and calculating benefit entitlement, a working knowledge of welfare state benefit is required although full training would be given on housing and council tax benefit to a candidate who can demonstrate excellent customer care skills, working in a similar environment. A high level of numeracy and literacy is required along with an understanding of computer based systems and the ability to communicate effectively. Interviews will be held week commencing 20 February 2012.
