Neighbourhood Services – Parks and Horticulture. Preston City Council is seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative individual to manage and develop the City’s prestigious Avenham and Miller Parks.
The parks are currently in the second phase of a £7m historic restoration funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, North West Development Agency and Preston City Council. The Parks Manager post if part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Preston City Council.
As the Park Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the historic Victorian parks are managed effectively, delivering a range of events and activities and ensuring the success of the Avenham Park Pavilion and Riverside Cafe.
Your role will include responsibility for the overall management of Avenham and Miller Parks. You will have experience of marketing and facilities management as well as experience of managing budgets and securing sponsorship.
You will have experience of supporting community organisations, consultation and delivering successful events, activities, initiatives and projects.
You will have excellent communication and customer service skills. You will be able to form and develop effective partnerships to ensure excellent service delivery as well as deliver safe and well organised practical environmental, cleansing and horticultural tasks on site.
As Park Manager you will be responsible for securing external funding, developing plans and strategies and delivering improvement projects.
The post requires evening and weekend working and the successful applicant will be required to obtain Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure at enhanced level.
