WSCC recognises the value apprenticeships can bring and made a pledge to employ 200 Apprentices by 31 ^st March 2011.

Apprenticeships are available for people from 16 to 65 years old; as an employer we are keen for people for a wide range of backgrounds to take up these opportunities, certain jobs for legislative reasons have minimum age requirements e.g. 21. The only exemption to undertaking an apprenticeship is people who are graduates.

Up to around 70 job opportunities will be available for job seekers to apply for in the next six months. We are offering a wide range of jobs such as Business Administration, Caretakers, Customer Services, Engineering and Surveying, Nursery Assistants Social Care, etc.

Once employed you will undertake your training partially at work ‘on the job’ and at a local college. You will be fully supported throughout their apprenticeship the length of the employment programme ranges from one to four years.
