A challenging opportunity has arisen at Portsmouth City Council for an experienced person to lead work undertaken by the council and its partners to combat poverty in the city.
Despite its attractive waterfront location in one of the UK’s wealthiest regions, Portsmouth has pockets of deprivation that are amongst the worst in the country.
Although at the forefront of efforts to tackle poverty and already delivering a range of anti-poverty initiatives with partner organisations, the Council needs someone to bring this effort together and improve the city’s response to poverty.
The successful candidate will be confident working alone and using their initiative; have excellent communication, negotiation and networking skills and experience in securing funding; and be able to produce high quality policies and strategies (including a response to the duties placed on local authorities by the Child Poverty Bill).
Closing date: 6th April 2010
