Animal Welfare Apprentice

Islington Apprentice Scheme
The Islington Apprentice Scheme offers Islington residents aged 16 or over a contract of up to two years with the council to work as an apprentice. Successful candidates will receive training at a college one day per week, which will result in a nationally recognised qualification.
At the end of your apprenticeship, we’re confident that you’ll have the skills and experience to give you the edge over others with any employer.
Applications for the Animal Welfare Apprentice are open to candidates who:
- are over 16 years old
- are an Islington resident or will be a school leaver from an Islington school
- have the right to work in UK
- are not qualified to NVQ4 or degree level
If you don’t meet the above criteria we cannot progress your application.

To join our team you will be a highly motivated, hard working individual, with a demonstrated willingness to learn , You must have the ability to work with people as well as animals.
You will
• Help promote responsible pet ownership, educate the public and promote the functions carried out by the service.
• Pick up dogs, transport them to kennels or return them to their owners
• Work with the police and animal welfare societies
• Participate in the Council’s 24 hour stray dogs collection service.
