Tameside Governor Services – working in partnership with governing bodies to develop their effectiveness and enhance pupil outcomes   Additional hours may be available on a temporary basis. This post is required as soon as possible   You will join a team of 8 colleagues who provide a professional and supportive clerking service to school Governing Bodies. Duties include attendance at Governing Body meetings at schools, many of which are in the evenings, together with home and office based work, most of which is concerned with preparation for, and follow-up from, these meetings.   You should have administrative, communication (both written and oral), and IT skills/experience which would enable you to clerk meetings with extensive and varied agendas. Some knowledge of the current school system would be desirable. Effective time-management skills, and an ability to use e-mailing systems and the internet are essential.   Regular training and support in all areas is provided through a programme of team meetings, training days, and personal development programmes, so that clerks are in a position to advise on the interpretation of regulations relating to school Governing Bodies.   The current situation is that clerks work principally from home. All necessary equipment and materials are supplied. In addition support is readily available from the office-based team during normal day-time working hours.   A fully supportive mentoring and training programme is put in place for anyone newly appointed.
